Evaporative cooling –
how the technology works

Natural cooling without refrigerant – how GoodCooling noticeably cools warm air within seconds.

Filter wandelt warme Luft in kühlere Luft und H2O um

An evaporative air cooler cools the air using a natural principle: evaporative cooling. Warm air is passed through a cellulose filter moistened with water – as the water evaporates it draws heat from the air, and a fan distributes the noticeably cooler, fresh air throughout the room. No compressor, no chemicals, no refrigerant.

Cool air in four steps

Step 1

Water evaporates

A pump distributes water over the natural honeycomb cellulose filter. Warm air is drawn through the filter.

Step 2

Heat is drawn from the air

As the water evaporates, heat is drawn from the air – with no refrigerant as in a conventional air conditioner.

Step 3

The air feels noticeably cooler

A fan distributes the cool, fresh, clean air throughout the room – naturally free of germs and viruses – and it feels up to 15 °C cooler.

Step 4

Up to 90% less electricity

As the market leader for evaporative air coolers, we don't sell the biggest possible units – we show you how to cool energy-efficiently.

Where an air conditioner
can no longer be retrofitted

Conventional air conditioners need structural work, refrigerants and specialist staff. GoodCooling needs none of that: simply set it up, fill it with water and plug it in – usable anywhere an air conditioner can no longer be retrofitted.

about the technology

How does the GoodCooling cooling unit work?

Our units cool the air using a simple, natural process, the adiabatic process: water is filled into the tank and a pump distributes it over the natural honeycomb cellulose filter. Warm air is drawn through the filter, and as the water evaporates it draws heat from the air – cool, fresh, clean air comes out.

Our units reduce the CO₂ footprint and are equipped with highly efficient technology to save water and energy – ideal for sustainable cooling. The air is also cleaned of particles.

Thanks to our innovative technology, our units can be used indoors and outdoors. Indoors, you get the best results even with open windows and doors.

Running costs vary depending on the model and use. For example, the Y15's water consumption costs approx. €0.32*, and the Y20's electricity consumption at full load costs approx. €1.65 for 10 hours.
