Air Coolers – Energy-Efficient Cooling Without Air Conditioning

Evaporative air coolers – the modern, energy-efficient solution for cool air in summer

GoodCooling – the original from Vienna. Austria's specialist for mobile air coolers and evaporative air coolers. When temperatures rise, many people look for an efficient way to keep rooms pleasantly cool – without high electricity bills, noisy units or environmentally harmful refrigerants. Air coolers are a practical solution: plug in, fill with water, enjoy noticeably cooler air.

Overview of GoodCooling air cooler models

What is an evaporative air cooler?

An air cooler (also called an aircooler or evaporative cooler) is a device that saves energy by using natural evaporative cooling while delivering a noticeable reduction in temperature. Unlike conventional air conditioners, an air cooler uses no compressor system and no chemical coolants. Instead, warm air is drawn through a moist medium, where it cools down – producing a pleasantly cool airflow.

Everyone knows the principle: if you step out of the water and stand in the wind, you feel the coolness on your skin. When water evaporates, it draws heat from its surroundings. GoodCooling devices use exactly this natural effect – controlled, quiet and without complex installation.

How does an evaporative air cooler work?

  1. Warm air is drawn in: A fan draws in the room air.
  2. Cooling through evaporation: The air flows through moist pads or filters. Heat is extracted from it in the process – the air cools down.
  3. Cool air is expelled: The fan blows the cooled air back into the room.

This creates a noticeable cooling effect – without refrigerants and without high running costs. With GoodCooling air coolers it feels as if it were up to 15 °C cooler.

The advantages of air coolers at a glance

  • Efficient cooling without high electricity costs: significantly lower energy consumption than conventional air conditioners.
  • Natural and environmentally friendly: no refrigerant, and therefore more sustainable.
  • Simple installation: ready to use immediately, no structural changes needed.
  • Mobile use: on wheels, ideal for living spaces, offices, workshops and catering areas.
  • Fresh air instead of recirculated air: the air is not circulated in a loop but freshly cooled and lightly humidified.
  • CE-certified: tested quality, with service, repairs and spare parts from a single source.

Air cooler or air conditioner – the difference

An air conditioner cools with a compressor and refrigerant, usually needs installation, an exhaust hose or structural work, and dries out the air. An air cooler works with water and evaporation, is ready to use immediately and lightly humidifies the air. That said, air coolers play to their strengths in well-ventilated rooms and outdoors, while air conditioners are designed for tightly closed rooms.

Air cooler or fan?

A fan only moves the air that is already there – it does not cool it. An air cooler also lowers the temperature of the air because water evaporates. In return it needs water and a little maintenance. If you want it to actually be cooler rather than just feel a draught, an air cooler is the better choice.

Humidity and ventilation: how the air cooler works best

The drier the air, the stronger the cooling effect. In very muggy air, less water evaporates and the effect is smaller. Regular air exchange is therefore important: an open window or door lets fresh air flow in and humid air escape.

Which model suits me?

The right size depends on the area and the ventilation. According to the data sheet, the GoodCooling Y5 cools areas of roughly 40 to 60 square metres, and the Y20 and Y30 models roughly 150 to 250 square metres each. For large halls, several units can be combined. We are happy to advise you personally on which unit is right for your room.

Care and water: simple and uncomplicated

To keep your air cooler working reliably, a little care is enough: change the water regularly, clean the tank, check the cooling pad and place the unit in a clear spot. Cleaning instructions and data sheets are available on our Service & Downloads page.

Frequently asked questions about air coolers

How cool does it get with an air cooler?

Depending on humidity and ventilation, it feels as if it were up to 15 °C cooler with GoodCooling air coolers. The drier and better ventilated the room, the stronger the effect.

Does an air cooler need water?

Yes. The water is filled into the tank and evaporates at the cooling pad – that is the cooling principle. No chemical refrigerants are needed.

Do I need an installation?

No. The units stand on wheels, are ready to use immediately and only need to be plugged into a socket and filled with water.

Can I use the air cooler outdoors?

Yes, GoodCooling devices are suitable for indoor and outdoor areas, such as terraces, street cafés or events.

Does an air cooler work in muggy weather?

With high humidity the cooling effect is smaller. Regular ventilation helps so that fresh air can flow in.

Do you deliver to Germany or Switzerland?
